After the creation of the world from the cosmic egg, Lord Brahma was busy in creating various forms of Gandharva, Yaksha, Kinnara, Kimpurusha, Rakshasa, Nagas, Suparna, Vanaras, Vidyadhara, Valkyria, Pisacha, Devas, Asuras and Human beings. He is said to have created human beings as an image of the gods. Thus, 4 sages or Kumaras were born.

They were Sanaka, Sanandana, Sanatana, and Sanatkumara. Brahma had experienced the sight of Lord Vishnu sleeping on the back of Ananta Shesha after performing penance for thousands of years. Lord Vishnu pleased with his penance gave to him the basic knowledge of the Veda. Only after getting that knowledge, he commenced his creation.

When the four Kumaras came into existence, they were all embodiments of pure qualities. They did not have any signs of negative qualities like laziness, sleep, etc. Brahma had created these four Kumaras so that they could help in the process of creation. But they refused when they were ordered by Brahma to do so. So these four Kumaras ; Kumara means unmarried Brahmacharis. Because in the beginning Brahma begot so many sons, and each of them was asked to increase the population. Sanaka, Sananda, Sanatana, were also requested by their father to increase population, but they refused and chose to remain kumaras, brahmacharis, and preach the glories of God. Brahma became angry. And while he was angry, from his anger Rudra, Shiva, was said to have been produced from his forehead.

They requested their father for the boon of remaining perpetually five years old along with being celibate.

Their names were Sanaka (Ancient), Sanandana (Joyful), Sanatan (eternal), and Sanatkumara (Ever young). They lead a life of ascetics and roamed around at their free will with their cosmic powers all over the universe.

The four Kumaras learned the Vedas at the age of four or five.

Due to the boon from their father Brahma and the strength of their tapas, the Four Kumaras looked like 5-year-olds. Jaya and Vijaya, the gatekeepers of the Vaikuntha stopped the Kumaras at the gate, thinking them to be children. They told the Kumaras that Sri Vishnu is resting and that they cannot see him now. The enraged Kumaras cursed both Jaya and Vijaya that they would have to give up their divinity, be born as mortals on Earth (Bhuloka), and live like normal human beings.

This curse was eventually ‘diluted’ to Jay and Vijaya choosing to be born three times on Earth as enemies of Shri Vishnu. They were soon to be born as Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashyapu.!!

 நான்கு குமாரர்கள் தோன்றியபோது, ​​அவை அனைத்தும் தூய குணங்களின் உருவங்களாக இருந்தன.  சோம்பல், தூக்கம் போன்ற எதிர்மறை குணங்களின் அறிகுறிகள் அவர்களிடம் இல்லை. பிரம்மா இந்த நான்கு குமாரர்களையும் உருவாக்கியுள்ளார், இதனால் அவர்கள் படைப்பின் செயல்பாட்டில் உதவ முடியும்.  ஆனால் பிரம்மா அவ்வாறு செய்யும்படி கட்டளையிட்டபோது அவர்கள் மறுத்துவிட்டார்கள்.  எனவே இந்த நான்கு குமாரர்கள்;  குமாரா என்றால் திருமணமாகாத பிரம்மச்சாரிகள் என்று பொருள்.  ஏனென்றால் ஆரம்பத்தில் பிரம்மா பல மகன்களைப் பெற்றெடுத்தார், அவர்கள் ஒவ்வொருவரும் மக்கள் தொகையை அதிகரிக்கச் சொன்னார்கள்.  சனகா, சனந்தா, சனாதனா ஆகிய நாடுகளும் மக்கள்தொகையை அதிகரிக்குமாறு தங்கள் தந்தையிடம் கோரப்பட்டன, ஆனால் அவர்கள் மறுத்து, குமாரர்கள், பிரம்மச்சாரிகள், கடவுளின் மகிமைகளைப் பிரசங்கிக்கத் தேர்வு செய்தனர்.  பிரம்மாவுக்கு கோபம் வந்தது.  அவர் கோபமாக இருந்தபோது, ​​அவரது கோபத்திலிருந்து ருத்ரா, சிவன், அவரது நெற்றியில் இருந்து தயாரிக்கப்பட்டதாகக் கூறப்படுகிறது.

 அவர்கள் பிரம்மச்சாரிகளாக இருப்பதோடு நிரந்தரமாக ஐந்து வயது மீதமுள்ள வரத்தை தங்கள் தந்தையிடம் கோரினர்.

 அவர்களின் பெயர்கள் சனகா (பண்டைய), சனந்தனா (மகிழ்ச்சியான), சனாதன் (நித்தியம்), சனத்குமாரா (எப்போதும் இளம்).  அவர்கள் சந்நியாச வாழ்க்கையை நடத்துகிறார்கள் மற்றும் பிரபஞ்சம் முழுவதிலும் தங்கள் அண்ட சக்திகளுடன் தங்கள் விருப்பப்படி சுற்றி வருகிறார்கள்.

 நான்கு குமாரர்களும் நான்கு அல்லது ஐந்து வயதில் வேதங்களைக் கற்றுக்கொண்டனர்.

 அவர்களின் தந்தை பிரம்மாவின் வரம் மற்றும் அவர்களின் தபஸின் வலிமை காரணமாக, நான்கு குமாரர்கள் 5 வயது சிறுவர்களைப் போல தோற்றமளித்தனர்.  ஜெயாவும், விஜயாவும், வைகுந்தத்தின் நுழைவாயில் காவலர்கள் குமாரர்களை குழந்தைகள் என்று நினைத்து வாயிலில் நிறுத்தினர்.  ஸ்ரீ விஷ்ணு ஓய்வெடுக்கிறார் என்றும், இப்போது அவரைப் பார்க்க முடியாது என்றும் அவர்கள் குமாரர்களிடம் சொன்னார்கள்.  கோபமடைந்த குமாரர்கள் ஜெயா மற்றும் விஜயா இருவரையும் தங்கள் தெய்வீகத்தன்மையை கைவிட வேண்டும், பூமியில் மனிதர்களாக பிறக்க வேண்டும் (பூலோகா), சாதாரண மனிதர்களைப் போல வாழ வேண்டும் என்று சபித்தனர்.

 இந்த சாபம் இறுதியில் ஜெய் மற்றும் விஜயா ஆகியோருக்கு ஸ்ரீ விஷ்ணுவின் எதிரிகளாக பூமியில் மூன்று முறை பிறக்கத் தெரிவுசெய்தது.  அவர்கள் விரைவில் ஹிரண்யக்ஷா மற்றும் ஹிரண்யகஷ்யபு என பிறக்கவிருந்தனர். !!
